Let's Go High-Waisted

A belated "Kung Hei Fat Choi" to all communities who just celebrated the Lunar New Year! The cold weather this year has given it the RIGHT feel, and made us stay close to our families and friends (and to our heaters as well) throughout the holiday! Hope you enjoyed the time of family re-union as much as we do~

After all the festive celebrations, are you trying hard to hide the few pounds (I hope not kg) you've gained because of all the delicious food you had during the holiday? I hope this article is posted just in time.

You know you need high-waist skirt/ pants when you:
1. lack a well-defined waistline (which I hope is temporary, ha)
2. have a big bum
3. are not tall yet with a nicely-proportioned figure
4. want to show off your long and pretty legs

If you are either type 1 or 2,
  • consider a high-waist pom pom short skirt, because that could give you back your feminine curve and hide your J-Lo bum
  • do not pick tight-fit pencil skirt or denim shorts, especially those highly stretchable ones, because that would not only reveal, but highlight your shortcoming (unless it is as tight as a girdle which keeps your flesh in the right place)

if you are either type 3 or 4,
  • congratulations because most of the high-waist items suit you and helps to highlight your gifted figure
  • in particular you could wear high-waist long pants, flare, straight-leg or skinny, which most of the female population could only admire you looking so good in them while they can't do so themselves
  • yet, if you're more at the skinny end and do not have a nice bum like Pippa Middleton, you may wish to avoid highly stretchable fabrics like our type 1 or 2 people, because that surely wouldn't be something you should highlight
  • and if for any reason you would like to cover up minor imperfection on your legs (thinking your thighs or calves are not slim enough, scars, marks, mosquito bites etc), just cover up with a pair of opaque leggings/ tights. Try patterns and sharp colors like stripes or fluorescent red

And just in case you haven't been catching up with the latest fashion trend, gold/silver, photo-print, and bright colors like sharp yellow would be trending in S/S 2012, so you wouldn't go wrong picking items with any of these elements. Now off you go and happy shopping with your laisee money! :)
