As Two-tone Continues...

Apology for not writing sooner, we had been crazily busy this month with the setting up of our online shop (wahey! It's been launched finally this week! You can go have a visit at www.kanastore.net, no pressure though!) and starting tweeting in Twitter (again, feel free to follow us @kanastore). Afterall it's a good sign that things get rolling huh?

A quick topic for this week - Mixed-fabric Winter Coat

Yeah you may have noticed this in many fashion shows lately, Givenchy, Fendi, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Stella McCartney, Prada and the list goes on...

Clockwise from top right: Givenchy, Prada, Stella McCartney, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Fendi and Givenchy

Combinations are infinite: Fur (which we hope is faux), leather, wool, and even cotton and satin can all be mixed. First it was Phoebe Philo bringing us the stormed-the-world two-tone tote bag (and its variations still seem limitless!) and now we are getting the two-tone trend extended to other fashion items (in fact you also see those bi-color dress shoes don't you?). We say, the more the merrier! Hey designers, can we also have the below accessories/ gadgets in mixed materials or colors? Pleasssseeee...

  • watches
  • shades (i know i know, Chanel already got us flurry shades...but more please!)
  • ponchos/ anoraks for sports
  • swimsuits
  • bracelets
  • caps/ visors
  • ballerinas
  • iphone/ ipad/ tablet pc covers
  • music headphones
  • notebooks/ organizers
  • bedspreads and slippers
  • etc etc...

My ultimate secret wish is a pair of two-tone DM boots (vibrant colors, not just black and white), what's your wish?

An Ideal Afternoon Tea For Fashionistas - The Berkeley (London)

Seldom have the luxury to enjoy afternoon tea in our busy city lives, not to mention our constant fear of gaining weight too fast (yes, it's going to happen sooner or later, isn't it?). BUT, how can you resist a Prêt-à-Portea with cakes and fancies with such "star appearance":

  • Tom Ford light pink chiffon summer dress biscuit with rose icing and sparkly silver cuffs

  • Chloe praline clutch topped with gold chocolate beads

  • Victoria Beckham peach coloured sponge cake tote with chocolate crocodile print

  • Marc Jacobs raspberry and lychee cream jumpsuit with over-sized chocolate flower belt

  • Miu Miu vanilla bikini biscuit with navy icing and signature white bow

  • Tory Burch strawberry and rhubarb bavarois dress with flattering gold button detail

  • Prada summer dress of papaya, red currant and blueberry mousse, topped with pate de frui

  • Jil Sander coloured block dress of crème de menthe and coconut jelly with must-have sparkly sunglasses

  • Roger Vivier black and white chocolate striped ‘belle de Nuit’ high-heeled shoe

  • Guess I'm not asking too much to try it once. So, where's my suitcase and what's the website of Virgin? I need to pack and go NOW!

    Color Blocks

So you've heard that vivid color blocks made the SS11 trend already? (and you must have seen the effect from big names like Gucci, Prada or Zara!) We at KA.NA love that too (of course!)! But is it bothering you that you've no clue on how to start the mix-and-match? Below tips might be helpful:
    1. Pick colors with BIG contrast, and we mean REALLY BIG contrast. Yellow, red and green can do the tricks, but red, orange and brown are not impressive enough.
    2. If you're not confident or do not want to go THAT far, then put on only two colors in maximum. The more colors you've to match, the harder it is to look good. Try orange and blue, or red and yellow.
    3. If you're finding it not exciting enough, try add in neon colors. We reckon green sweater, yellow sweat pants plus shocking pink sneakers look just fabulous!
