The Right Wedges?

Perhaps we've to be thankful that wedges take over high heels to be the more popular shoe type in recent years because putting your body weight on a "platform" seems more comfortable and safer than on a high heel that is as thin as a pencil. But is it the real case? What are the pros and cons of different types of wedges?

Honestly I'm quite satisfied with my height so I don't own many pairs of high-heels/ wedges, but I think I've tried enough pairs to make comparisons. Regardless the different fabrics/ leather used to make up the surface of the shoes, the heels themselves are more or less quite similar:

Type A - Actual heel height greater than the platform height
Pros:
i) Your ball-of-foot stays closer to the ground and thus you can have a better sense of the irregularity of the floor, which means your ankle can adjust better and you can control your walk better.
ii) Since the actual heel height is usually steeper than those of type B shoes, these shoes make your calves look slimmer "visually", just like high-heel shoes do.

Cons:
Again just like high-heel shoes, most of your body weight will lay on your ball-of-foot and thus, makes your foot get tired rather easily.

Type A

Type A
Type B - Actual heel height smaller than the platform height
Pros:
i) With their not-so-high actual heel height (usually not higher than 1"-1.5"), you feel like walking in a pair of flats. You can even wear them for a crazy shopping marathon the whole afternoon without feeling tired.
ii) Although the heel itself isn't too high, the platform could add you some height, so it's best for girls who are in need of some more inches.

Cons:
i) Since the platform is sooooo thick, you can hardly feel the bumpy surface of the ground. The risk is that you unintentionally step on a small piece of rock or concrete etc. and then twist your ankle badly. You can even slip over a curb easily if you're not paying 100% attention!
ii) It's a coin with two facets afterall: without a real high-heel, these wedges cannot give you slim legs like a pair of real high-heels can.

Type B

It's always that dilemma, comfort or beauty? Your choice? ;)
