Tee Remade (#1)

Bored with an old tee/ want to give your favorite tee a new look? Catch the remade trend and try some easy needlework!

Love this smurf tee-shirt produced by a mass retailer but want to make it unique, so I cut off its original white sleeves (using a quick un-pick or stitch ripper) and replaced them (using sewing machine this time) with the camouflaged sleeves I got from another tee. Now it has a military touch and still looks cute! Wanna try? :)

Something For The Weekend? (What-to-wear and What-to-do)

Have you got plans for the weekend yet? How about what-to-wear (be prepared for a rainy weekend, sob sob...)? Don't worry if you haven't, we've got some ideas for you here:

Look 1
Best paired with your rain boots + flowery umbrella (brighten up on a rainy day!)
How about being artistic for a while? Indoor quiet activity seems best for wet days. This exhibition in The Elements gives you a chance to meet Andy Warhol's famous “Campbell Soup” and “Marilyn Monroe” pieces (WE LOVE IT!!), and there will be art-jamming, t-shirt silkscreen workshop and pop art tour to fill the day. What's more, you can bag limited edition gifts by participating in their photo hunt game or via redemption. Click the link above to learn more.

Look 2

Pair them with your fave jelly shoes and colorful rain poncho (sweet!)
Activity 2 - Out on a date (with your best friends or the hot guy)
What's better than hanging out with your best soul mates or your beloved one on a weekend? All you need is a comfortable outfit and a nice place. If you're meeting friends for brunch or dinner, try King Ludwig Beerhall (German cruisine) or The Flying Pan (all-day breakfast). Or if you need space for some romance, check out Cafe Deco (book in advance to secure window seats, the view is amazing if not raining) or Green Waffle Diner (if you're waffle lover like me!).

Don't forget to put on a mask before you catch zzzzzs tonight, always a good idea to look good on weekend! Have fun!

The Right Wedges?

Perhaps we've to be thankful that wedges take over high heels to be the more popular shoe type in recent years because putting your body weight on a "platform" seems more comfortable and safer than on a high heel that is as thin as a pencil. But is it the real case? What are the pros and cons of different types of wedges?

Honestly I'm quite satisfied with my height so I don't own many pairs of high-heels/ wedges, but I think I've tried enough pairs to make comparisons. Regardless the different fabrics/ leather used to make up the surface of the shoes, the heels themselves are more or less quite similar:

Type A - Actual heel height greater than the platform height
Pros:
i) Your ball-of-foot stays closer to the ground and thus you can have a better sense of the irregularity of the floor, which means your ankle can adjust better and you can control your walk better.
ii) Since the actual heel height is usually steeper than those of type B shoes, these shoes make your calves look slimmer "visually", just like high-heel shoes do.

Cons:
Again just like high-heel shoes, most of your body weight will lay on your ball-of-foot and thus, makes your foot get tired rather easily.

Type A

Type A
Type B - Actual heel height smaller than the platform height
Pros:
i) With their not-so-high actual heel height (usually not higher than 1"-1.5"), you feel like walking in a pair of flats. You can even wear them for a crazy shopping marathon the whole afternoon without feeling tired.
ii) Although the heel itself isn't too high, the platform could add you some height, so it's best for girls who are in need of some more inches.

Cons:
i) Since the platform is sooooo thick, you can hardly feel the bumpy surface of the ground. The risk is that you unintentionally step on a small piece of rock or concrete etc. and then twist your ankle badly. You can even slip over a curb easily if you're not paying 100% attention!
ii) It's a coin with two facets afterall: without a real high-heel, these wedges cannot give you slim legs like a pair of real high-heels can.

Type B

It's always that dilemma, comfort or beauty? Your choice? ;)

Midi vs Maxi (Part 2) - with styling tips

Last week we talked about how to pick and wear midi skirts, have you tried? This week, we'll have a look at maxi skirts/dresses, which I personally think is more difficult to carry...

Maxi skirts/ dresses
When it comes to maxi, the first thing that comes to mind is the glam it brings that midi could not replace. If your body height is over 160cm and that you have a nice buttock, it is your show time. Definitely you have to try straight-line maxis, because not everyone can show off like you can! The only draw-back is that you have to walk in relatively smaller steps because of the narrow tail, but it is not a bad thing afterall as it also shows your elegance and feminity! Agree?

Don't be disappointed if you don't have a perfect butt, because you can still wear maxis, just with a little help. A seamless push-up underpants could do the tricks. Believe me, I tried!

And if your reason to wear a maxi is to cover up your imperfect lower body, consider flare maxis. You can either try plain-color skirts for a casual lady look, or you can put on a Bohemian or hippy look by choosing maxis which have more details in cutting (e.g. with pleats) or on the fabric (e.g. with prints).

If you don't bother to do the "matching" routine, one-piece maxi dress is the option. But in order not to be mistaken as being pregnant, I recommend to wear it with a belt. Not only does it give you back your waist-line, it can also make your legs look longer.

So you've listened to my views now, have you decided for yourself? Midi? Maxi? Or both? :)
