Sometimes fashion trends could be quite tricky to follow. This season so far we have combated color blocks (which challenge our skin complexion), animal prints (which could make us look like an old fat lady if mismatched) and 3.5" platform shoes (which twist our ankles for a thousand times before we get used to walking in them). What's next? Is THIS what you are thinking?
Midi Dress/ Skirt
The week we will first look at midi dresses and skirts. Living in a busy and crowded city where space of showing off our apparels is so limited, I personally prefer midi since it makes you look less clumpsy at times of rush hours. You can at least get on a crowded train swiftly and without the need to take care of the long tail of your dress (plus it is more comfortable for a giant-step walker like me!).
It is not difficult at all to match a midi with your existing wardrobe. If you pick a straight-line skirt, try matching it with a crop top or tuck in a simple round-neck t-shirt and then add a belt. Put on your sandals or wedges and then you are ready to go.
If you think your are relatively not-so-skinny and that you don't have a nice bum, probably an A-line skirt will suit you better. Match it with a single-color top if your skirt is floral or with prints, and vice versa (or even try a mix of patterns if you are confident of your styling skills!). Denim top is always a good partner too.
And if you still can't get over your self-image of "I am fat", black is always the magic. But I recommend you pick one that is made of lighter materials like lace or mesh, since thicker fabrics tend to make you look even fatter.
